WOMANISH is the next level of empowerment for Women and Non-Binary individuals aged 18 to 30. While GROWNISH focuses on the personal and professional development of young individuals, WOMANISH is a transformative movement dedicated to unlocking the full creative potential of Women and Non-Binary people. It’s not just about development but about revolutionizing how individuals see themselves, their capabilities, and their place in the world.

 

Through events, projects, programs, and masterclasses, WOMANISH provides the tools and resources needed to make a real impact, break barriers, and pave the way for the next generation of leaders and change-makers. Our mission is to empower and galvanize creative spirit and ingenuity, grounded in the principles of gender and racial equality, while championing mental well-being advocacy. WOMANISH supports young women and Non-Binary individuals on their grind, helping them navigate career transitions with expert advice, innovative workshops, and opportunities for critical reflection and community activism.

 

As a platform, WOMANISH fosters a strong sense of peoplehood and creative entrepreneurship, profiling the outstanding work of women and people of color in the West Midlands and across the UK. It envisions a world where individuals are not held back by who they are, what they do, or where they come from. By working at the grassroots level, WOMANISH addresses the needs of its beneficiaries and creates a ripple effect that impacts wider society.

 

GIRL GRIND UK CIC is committed to this vision, equipping individuals with resources to hone leadership skills, discover their truths, share their voices, and forge their paths. WOMANISH embraces and supports cisgender, non-binary, and transgender women, championing inclusivity and creative excellence.

What is Backstage Baddies? Girl Grind UK, in partnership with Pirates.com, will deliver Backstage Baddies over nine months in Birmingham’s Digbeth area. The program includes 3 day bootcamps and 50 hours of mentorship/ Booster sessions, empowering 63 diverse women and non-binary individuals with skills in traditionally male dominated offstage music roles addressing underrepresentation. The Backstage Baddies (BB) program is a bold response to the alarming underrepresentation of women, especially diverse and regional women, in offstage music and live event roles. BB will host 3, 3 day bootcamps for groups of 21 participants at a time. Groups will split into groups of 7 and on rotation will take part in a music mixed curriculum.

What is ABC Womxnish? WOMXNISH (Ages 19-25, Gender Inclusive): WOMANISH will be open to young women and gender-expansive participants, allowing a broader age range and deeper engagement in the arts and outdoor experiences. Camp Structure and Activities: Camps will span four days and three nights, hosting up to 15 participants each and led by three trained mentors. Each camp will include activities like kayaking, high ropes, and nature walks, fostering resilience and confidence in a supportive environment. ABC’s artistic emphasis in 2025 will be music-centred, offering participants opportunities to compose, collaborate, and record music. Led by industry professionals, sessions will focus on songwriting, DJing, and the therapeutic power of music, with additional group therapy and wellbeing support from Help Musicians UK. Outcomes and Unique Aspects of ABC 2025: With ABC’s revised structure, participants will benefit from the integration of music as a creative and therapeutic outlet, bridging mental health and the arts in a supportive, outdoor setting. Access to mentorship and therapy sessions adds a layer of holistic care, ensuring ABC 2025 delivers not just skills, but lasting personal development and resilience.

What is She Don Did It? She Don Did It is GIRL GRIND UK’s award-winning programme supporting women from the Global Majority in music. Funded by Youth Music and delivered with B:Music, Symphony Hall, and BIMM Birmingham, it offers training, community, and career pathways across music business, production, DJing, and live events.

What is Mothers Write? Mothers Write is the UK’s first songwriting camp for mothers in music, founded by Namywa Hutchinson. In partnership with GIRL GRIND UK, Mamas In Music, and We Are The Unheard, the programme offers workshops, mentorship, and a supportive space for mums to create, collaborate, and thrive in the industry. Funded by PRS Foundation and endorsed by Levis, Mothers Write returns in 2025 to champion motherhood in music.

What is What If? What If is a powerful stage production born from the creative collaboration of GIRL GRIND UK, Eloquent Dance Company, and Vocal Nova Academy. Co-led by Namywa Hutchinson, Romanah Zhane, and Bianca Passelle-Reid, this performance celebrates Birmingham’s rich cultural roots and the bold visions of Black women in the arts. Telling the stories of Petta-gay, Jada, and Blessing—three women bound by courage and life-changing choices—What If weaves music, dance, and storytelling into an unforgettable experience. Featuring a live band, dynamic cast, and soulful performances, this production honours the legacy of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the city’s vibrant creative spirit.

What is Black + Green? BLK + GRN is a creative, cross-cultural movement at the intersection of arts and the environment, empowering women aged 18–30 from Black and Asian Minority Ethnic communities across the West Midlands. Delivered through GIRL GRIND UK’s WOMANISH arm, this initiative reclaims green spaces, amplifies awareness of climate justice, and encourages women to become bold, reflective changemakers. Through workshops, virtual camps, and a vibrant garden takeover, participants explore creative responses to local and global climate challenges. In partnership with Climate Museum UK and The Dolphin Women’s Centre, and supported by Birmingham City Council, BLK + GRN is reimagining a greener, more inclusive Birmingham—one creative act at a time.

Triple Threat? TRIPLE THREAT is GIRL GRIND UK and EPIC’s game-changing 5-week creative enterprise and leadership program, designed for Black and Asian Minority Ethnic women and non-binary freelancers aged 18–30 across the West Midlands. Blending real-world business tools with community and creativity, participants took part in powerful workshops on leadership, funding, wellness, and entrepreneurship—supported by expert guest speakers and peer mentoring. With 81% of attendees reporting a boost in confidence and 61% feeling more ready to approach businesses, Triple Threat helped unleash the full potential of the next generation of creative leaders.

What is Girls On Their Grind? GIRLS ON THEIR GRIND is the official podcast series by GIRL GRIND UK, hosted by founder and creative powerhouse Namywa. What is POW? POW! (People Of Ward End) is a powerful community-led project by GIRL GRIND UK, produced as part of Birmingham Festival 2022. Rooted in the vibrant neighbourhood of Ward End, POW celebrates the culture, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit of local residents — especially women-led micro-businesses. From June to September 2022, GIRL GRIND UK partnered with Dolphin Centre and Unity Hubb to deliver artist-led workshops, connect with local voices, and create a documentary film that honours the stories, talents, and resilience of the Ward End community. POW is a love letter to the people — past, present, and future — who make Ward End bold, brilliant, and beautifully Birmingham.
